Your answers can only contain letters or numbers, and not any symbols or special characters. While logged in to Xero, click your initials or profile image at the top right of the screen, then select Account. They also need to be five or more characters. You're now set up to use MFA next time you log into Xero. If you can't install apps on your work computer yourself, ask your IT team to install an authenticator app for you, either on your computer or your organisation's server.
There are a number of authenticator apps available, such as our recommended app Authy. Alternatively, you can use the steps below to do this. Click Set up multi-factor authentication to get started. If you're not yet required to set up MFA but want to get started, do this while you're logged in. Click your initials or profile image at the top right of the screen and select Account.
Under Additional Security , next to Multi-factor authentication , click Set up. This will take you to the start of the MFA process. When prompted to choose an authenticator app, select Use my own app. In a separate tab on your web browser, go to the Authy website and follow the steps to download Authy to your desktop.
When you enter a phone number, you can select how you receive the verification code. Then, enter the code to get into Authy. Add Xero as an account within Authy. To find the code or key, return to Xero and click Can't scan the QR code? Enter a setup key instead. Next to Setup Key , click Copy. Go back to the Authy app, click on the plus icon to add an account.
Paste the code or key and click Add Account. As Xero doesn't appear on the options to choose from, we need to create it. Select one of the options, for example Generic Blue , then to rename it type 'Xero' in the Account Name field at the top of the screen.
Select 6-digit as the token length, and click Save. Once Authy is generating codes, return to Xero and click Enter Code. Enter the six digit code from the Authy app and click Confirm. Security questions are a set of questions you had set when you originally set up Xero. You will be asked to enter your secret questions or do an alternative email login again. Do this then click on "Disable". The first screen displayed will be a QR Code that you need to use your authenticator app to scan.
On the next page you can select from a series of secret questions - remember that these are CASE and s p a c e sensitive. These are the questions you need if you lose your phone or cant access it to be able to get into Xero. Once you have set the questions click on "Continue". The next step is Alternative email address. Note that for doing this you need to have access to that email address to verify the code that is sent to it. We strongly recommend setting this up however if you do not have access to an alternative email you can click "Not Now".
Once you have entered the code from the email or clicked not now you will be back on the Xero account screen and can see it says that Two step authentication is enabled and ready to go on your new device. Now - the above process is really if you do not have access to your old device. If you still have access to your old device and you are using "Google Authenticator" you can export 10 codes at a time using the app - once you export you need to scan a QR code displayed on your old device on to you new device to complete the move.

I have an ;hone device but despite it being authenticxtion to an account via android, the 2FA account s do not transfer automatically.
All the suggestions above assume that you can access your account because your old device isn't 'destroyed'. Bad language aside abovethere seems to be no option to acquire a new QR code without having your previous device fully operation allowing access to your account. Thus, I appear to be locked out my authenticstion permanently. I think the QR code has now gone. They now have Multi factor authentication, you need to load on your quthentication an app called Xero Verify.

I had this problem but it's really easy once you know. Click on that, you will have to authenticate yourself though but can use the 6 nw code that appears on the xero verify app on your phone.
